  • Your body is designed for health and healing. As you live your life day to day, your digestion, energy production, hormone, detoxification systems, immune protection, blood circulation and other built-in systems are taken for granted. These life sustaining activities take place beneath your conscious awareness. Your mind and body are a symphony of biochemical and electrical intelligence that baffles medical scientists and touches on the miraculous.

And yet with all this natural life sustaining power, more and more people in our society are developing disease. From headaches, arthritis and fatigue to high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and cancer, chronic illness is on the rise. Depression and anxiety are commonplace. Even our children are getting drugs for their mood disturbances and behavior problems.

We go to doctors and receive a never ending variety of medications. Television ads tell that drugs will make us feel better. However, synthetic drugs are not part of the natural wisdom of the body and while they may suppress symptoms for awhile, they seldom cure the disease. Medications must be taken for a long time and we end up spending more and more and getting less and less. Something has gone wrong.

Medical research shows that we get sick because of our lifestyle and mind-style. Our diet is too high in simple sugars, refined carbohydrates, and trans fats, while low in fiber. Most of our foods are mineral deficient and so are we. We rarely find time to exercise but always find time to worry.

    Flight or Flight

Paradoxically, the “fight or flight” stress system that has insured human survival on the earth for tens of thousands of years is now killing us through stress related diseases. The “enemy” has moved inside and produces endless patterns of worry, anxiety, anger, frustration, resentment, fear, depression, anxiety and sleepless nights.

Our bodies are not designed for the 21st century. Exercise is no longer a natural part of our lifestyle and the “hunter gatherer” diet that kept our ancestors healthy has disappeared into the convenient, packaged, preservative filled world of the supermarket.

    Your Body: A Healing Machine

Through it all, however, your body remains a powerful healing machine. Regardless of the nature of your disease, you can explore and restore the natural wisdom of your body. Since your body is made of vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, enzymes and biological cofactors, you need to use these tools of nutritional medicine to restore your body.

And, most importantly, you can begin to discover the enormous healing power of your conscious and unconscious mind. Your thoughts and beliefs shape your reality. Your emotions can guide you in life like the navigational system in your car guides you to your destination. If you do not express your emotions, then your body will in the form of illness.

The purpose of disease is to produce healing. Healing is not found in doctor’s offices and medications, it is found naturally within the wisdom of your body and the power of your mind. It is your responsibility; no one can do it for you. Your life depends on it.
